The LVL Lash Lift – Length, Volume, Lift – Boom!

If I were to ask you what are the most important treatments you have at a beauty salon, what would be your answer? I’m absolutely certain there are a few “must-haves” and “can’t-live-withouts” you’d tell me about – especially as we’re coming into the summer holiday season.

I was absolutely thrilled to be invited to try an LVL Lash lift by Nouveau Lashes at Me Me Me last week – thank you Hatice and Gunjan sooooo much – it’s been a game changer in my daily routine, making getting ready to leave the house that much faster and I’m even doing a double-take when I catch a glimpse of myself in a mirror first thing in the morning, as I can see my eyelashes! Now that’s a first in my book and a very welcome one at that.

You see I’ve always had poker-straight blondish eyelashes that needed a heavy helping of encouragement to lift and curl, and an even heavier and painstaking application of mascara to add some colour and definition – it’s just got to be perfect, hasn’t it? Clumpy eyelashes are a massive no-no in my book – they look terrible. So, when I say this has revolutionised my life – I say it with full conviction and if you suffer from any of the above then book yourself an appointment for a Lash lift at Me Me Me pronto, you will not be disappointed!

When I said to my friends I was trying a Lash lift it was met with some confusion, some of them didn’t seem to know what it was, was I having some kind of injectable? Was it a non-surgical procedure that went beyond your usual trip to the beauty salon? That did make me giggle!

So, this is how it works…

lash lifting treatment

48 hours before the treatment I had to do an at-home patch test to make sure I wouldn’t react to any of the perming lotions, serums, or tints. I was given an LVL testing kit which had inside some samples of the products used in the treatment and I had to apply a little of each and cover with a plaster on the inside of my arm. I also had what was basically like a temporary tattoo, the type you have as a child, and yes that had to be applied too, to check I didn’t have any allergies to the eyelash tint. I was absolutely fine – no reactions but I did get a few funny looks at Yoga that week and found myself explaining my arm to more people than I’d hoped.

The treatment itself began with the therapist cleaning my lashes, then putting a shield over my lower lashes to make sure they were protected from the perming solution. If you’ve had lash extensions before you’ll be familiar with these. Then you close your eyes over the shield, which feels slightly weird but not at all painful, and you keep your eyes closed for the rest of the 45-minute treatment.

Once these shields are on, my eyelashes were combed and silicone shields applied my upper lids. These shields determine the level of lift and there are three options to choose from: most dramatic (small shield), average (medium) and least dramatic (large).

My lovely beauty therapist Hatice decided to use a “small shield” to give a maximum lift to my eyelashes and boy do they curl now!

After gently teasing my lashes up onto the shield, Hatice applied a perming lotion to my eyelashes. After leaving it on to set for around 10–15 minutes, she applied a neutralizer to the roots for five minutes, then applied the tint to darken my lashes, this is followed by a volumizing treatment to complete “the look.”

After the treatment was complete, I opened my eyes to a completely new look – and it’s totally amazing – I LOVE IT! Let me just say I am a complete convert to this eye treatment and I totally get the LVL hype now. Dark eyelashes that curl up with no need for mascara, a no-makeup makeup look 24/7. AND without the stress of eyelash extensions, which are far higher maintenance.

Thanks again to the team at Me Me Me! Amazing results, I’m sure you agree?
